Boho Updated Fireplace

Recently I had a customer from Carrollwood  Area asking if I could do something positive to her existing fireplace that appeared to be left behind from the '70's.  Of course, I knew I could add some Boho Chic flair to the situation.  We decided to clean up the "stone" look with a mortar fill to reduce the impact of the stones themselves and establish a simple backdrop to the area.  We added a 2" Cedar Plank for the mantle and plastered the cement surround to finish the look.  For the bookcase, we used plaster and 2" Cedar shelves to match the attached fireplace.  The result was a streamlined feel to present a simple, yet pleasing façade.
